If your SMS is not updated with the significant changes AMSA has made to Marine Order 504, you need to do it now!
Marine Order 504 has undergone significant changes that came into effect on June 1, 2025, including new requirements for fatigue and emergency risk management. Vessel owners should familiarise themselves with these changes and ensure their SMS is updated accordingly.
Fatigue Risk Management
All Class 1, 2 and 3 vessel owners MUST have included a Fatigue Risk Management Plan.
Emergency Procedures
ALL vessel owners must include procedures for emergency situations relevant to their vessel and its operation (not generic) including an outline how to manage risks.

Our only recommendation is to ensure your compliancy and avoid any unnecessary fines and/or business’ being affected by an AMSA inspection.
Look at your SMS – if the very minimum it doesn’t have a Fatigue Risk Management Plan, you are non-compliant and need to establish one immediately.
